Project Description
Completed in just over 12 months, Modern Building presents the new Agricultural Learning and Training Center and Jay Gilbert Farm Store at CSU Chico's University Farm. A Design/Build delivery, designed to create a hub for hands-on learning and to deepen the connection with the local agricultural and farming community. This state-of-the-art, 9,500-square-foot facility creates a campus setting, offering modern instructional classrooms and adaptable conference spaces for a wide variety of courses in food processing, sustainable production and food sciences. More than just classrooms, the attached Jay Gilbert Farm Store serves as a "living lab," where students gain real world experience to come full circle with the agricultural business. Students will be selling a diverse range of their own high-quality, student-grown and student-processed produce, meat, cheese, butter and plants. The Education Center strengthens the University Farm's role as a vital hub for research, innovation and community engagement, ensuring the next generation of agricultural leaders are well-prepared to sustain the future of farming.
