Modern Building Company was founded in 1946. Immediately following World War II, Modern’s first projects were building Quonset hut storage buildings. This start enabled the firm to build 250 of these structures for Pacific Gas & Electric’s Feather River Project in 1949. Since then, Modern has expanded its portfolio with continued slow but steady growth. This growth has allowed us to develop our dedicated management team and highly-skilled tradesmen, to be able to provide the best service and projects to our clients. We live and engage in the communities in which we work – our work is our trademark. We take pride in the legacy of projects in our portfolio.
While the majority of our work is in northern California, we are also licensed in Oregon, Nevada and Montana. Our work in neighboring states is a direct result of satisfied clients who requested we travel to meet their needs on subsequent projects. Each project adds to our resume and is the key to our long-term sustainability with repeat clients, attributing to over 75% of our current workload.
Modern is a tightly-knit, “hands-on”, family-oriented group – company ownership is present, accessible and involved in essentially all of the work we do. Our hands-on approach translates to our field execution, as well – Modern’s high-skilled tradesmen execute much of our concrete and carpentry work in-house.
Today, Modern is engaged in a tremendously diverse list of projects – from structural concrete construction including concrete tilt-up buildings and agricultural facilities, to multi-story steel and wood-framed buildings, pre-engineered steel structures, commercial buildings, restaurants, hospitals, health care and medical offices, schools, retail structures, tenant improvements and multi-family. Our approach includes taking care of all of our clients’ needs, including projects from less than 1,000 square feet to as large as you can imagine.
